Latest Junior News

Family Club Night - this Friday (15th June, and 20th July) are CANCELLED. Whilst the initial, Feb and March FCN were very successful, with 40+, and 20+ people attending, the April FCN was poorly attended (just 8 people from memory), and a small number in May. There isn't the support for FCN we had hoped, so we are cancelling FCN in June and July.

Please, please, if you wish to support this event, and are disappointed in this decision, then please let Paul, Deb Gargan, or Emma Purr know, so we can have a re-think for next season. (One proposal, is to alternate FCN with an adult member club night, on alternate months.

My apologies for the late notice.

Charity Event

We have a charity event on 29th June (arrival 6.45pm, prompt start of 7pm, and matches finishing approx. 9.30/ 10pm). We are hoping to raise 8 or 9 teams of 5 players to enter our 'mad squash tournament' (it will be hectic, frenetic, fast and furious, and a lot of fun). With 6 or 7 teams entered so far, this is our 'last call' for teams, or INDIVIDUAL players (who Paul will put into any incomplete teams, or form a 'scratch team'). The charity we hope to raise between £500 and £1000 for, is 'over the wall' - voted for by our juniors - they are a children Hampshire based charity who provide free day activities, and 'week' camps for seriously ill children, which also gives much needed rest bite to the children's parents and carers. A great choice by our juniors. With great food available on the evening, and cheap bar drinks, and a great evening out, why not come along if you don't play!

Congratulations to

Our April Player of the month = Jake Bernard.

Also to our recent 'teddy of the week winners' - including Elliott Seirwald, and Rufus Skerritt, and Zach Kasabah, (and apologies someone else when I was absent)

Also to our Club Champions from our junior Club closed at the end of April

Under 19 Kian Whelan, and Olvia Besant (runner up was Florence Kersely)

Under 17 Alex Broadbridge (runner up Lucas Carr)

Under 15 Joe Pannell and Lucy Piper (runner ups Sam Hartley, and Zoe Carr)

Under 13 Joe Purr (with runner up Matt Hartley)

Under 11 Hattie Broadbridge (runner up Mowgli Mehrkar-McCubbin)

Under 9 Will Alldridge (runner up Julian MacKenzie)

Squash Squirts Joshua Whitcher (runner up Zach Kasabah)

Mini Squash Squirts Antoinne Bryant (runner up Ria Quigley)

Junior Club Closed

What a wonderful day- with over 40 children taking part, and winners as above. Thanks go to all who helped out, but particularly Bob Broadbridge, for running the event. A summary of the day, and all winners, runner ups, and third places, can be seen on the noticeboard.

Bring A Friend Day

At the end of May, we had a 'bring a friend day'. Thanks to everyone who invited a friend - both receiving a small gift as a way of a thankyou. With 15 children bringing a friend, we had a great morning, and a few of the 'friends' also attending last week. I'm hoping to hold another 'bring a friend day' in Nov or Jan.

Awards Evening

We had 'player of the year awards' last year at the end of our club Championships. As this year our club Championships were much earlier, we are planning on having a spectacular evening on Saturday 14th July. Invitations for shortlisted players of each group, will be sent out in the next 2 weeks.

Family Fun Day

This year I'm planning on the Family Fun and Sports Day, on Saturday 1st September - to kick start the new season. Free bar-b-que for all junior members, and plenty of sporting activities in the part, all day. This has proved to be a very popular day - so please put into your diary.

Hampshire Junior Fun and Awards day

This is on Sunday July 1st, at Lee - On - Solent. Email recently sent out, but if you require further details, please ask Paul or Stuart Hartley. Awards will be given out for the Hampshire leagues - so if you played in these league, see if you can pop along. It's free for ALL juniors, with a free buffet. Booking is required. On the day, our very own KYLE FINCH will be playing fellow professional Robert Downer (from Portsmouth / Winchester), in the afternoon. This is also your chance to have a hit with Kyle and/or Rob -so why not go along?

Fair Oak boxes

The elite 'ladder' has been disbanded due to lack of matches.

Please play matches by the end of June.

Any juniors who wish to enter the boxes, please let Paul or Stuart know (usually, or 3 matches in a 2 month period, and matches can often be played on a Saturday, after the players coaching session).
